To better serve international faculty members and help them gain a deeper understanding of local high-quality medical resources, on the afternoon of March 25, 2026, International Office of Shantou University (STU) organized a visit for them to the Daxue Road Campus of the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Shantou University Medical College (SUMC). The event included a health education session and a guided tour.

The event was held in the 19th-floor meeting room of the Cancer Hospital. Dr. Guo first delivered a welcoming address and introduced the facilities, service system, international patient care procedures, and specialty services of the International Medical Services Department, giving international faculty members a full picture of the specialized, international-standard medical care available to the international community in Shantou.

Two hospital specialists then delivered targeted health education sessions. Prof. Zeng De gave a lecture titled "Breast Cancer Screening: A Simple Guide (4W1H)." Prof. Ashok Kumar Singhvi from the College of Science, had an in-depth discussion with Dr. Zeng on the incidence of breast cancer across different countries and regions. Dr. Xu Zijian, on the topic of "Low Back Pain: Modern Diagnosis and Treatment Strategies," introduced in detail the types of lower back pain and the corresponding treatment and rehabilitation plans. The two speakers shared authoritative health concepts with professional, accessible content and practical advice and their sessions were well received by the audience.

After the lectures, guided by hospital staff, international faculty members toured the clinical environment and facilities of the International Medical Services Department, experienced the international-standard care process firsthand, and held in-depth discussions with hospital staff on daily medical consultations and health services.

This event is an important initiative by the International Office to better serve international faculty. It not only provided thoughtful healthcare support, but also built a practical platform for university-hospital collaboration and Sino-foreign exchange, effectively raising awareness of and satisfaction with local medical services among the international community in Shantou. International Office will continue to focus on the needs of international faculty and students, draw on high-quality resources both on and off campus, and offer more caring services and exchange activities to further improve the international education and living environment.
