On the afternoon of 9^th March 2021, led by Mr. Peleg Lewi, the Consul General, a 4-person delegation of the Consulate General of Israel in Guangzhou paid a visit to Shantou University and was warmly received by Prof. Hong Jiang, the President of Shantou University, at Room 306 in the administration building.

At the meeting, Prof. Jiang expressed a sincere welcome to the delegation and spoke highly of Israel’s remarkable achievements in education, technology and culture. She then gave a brief introduction of the cooperation between Shantou University and Israeli higher institutions to the guests, stressing on the glorious history of the founding of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) as a success of Shantou University’s collaboration with Israel Institute of Technology (Technion). She also showed willingness to strengthen the ties with Israeli institutions and enterprises on academic and scientific research, technology innovation and transformation in the coming future.

Mr. Lewi responded with heartfelt gratefulness for Shantou University’s continuous support and huge contributions in the Sino-Israeli educational cooperation and exchange. He hoped this visit could open opportunities for faculty and students at Shantou University to know more about Israel, especially Israeli higher institutions and enterprises, paving ways for a closer Sino-Israeli cooperation in education, technology and culture.
