On the afternoon of November 25, the 2022 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance Annual Meeting and President Forum, organized by Guangdong Hong Kong Macao University Alliance, hosted by the University of Macao, was held online and offline. Representatives of 42 alliance colleges and universities from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao participated in the annual meeting forum. Prof. HAO Zhifeng, president of Shantou University, attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech in the form of online participation.
Representatives from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of the Ministry of Education, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Department of Education of Guangdong Province, DSEDJ, Hong Kong Education Bureau attended the meeting in the form of online and offline respectively and delivered the opening remarks.
With the theme of “Implementing the national education digital strategy and promoting the construction of high-level talent highlands”, this annual meeting and conference promotes alliance universities to make suggestions and jointly pay attention to the national education digital strategy, and construct the research high-level talent highland.
Taking the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education and strengthening the support of talents in modernization as the fundamental frame proposed in the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China report, Prof. HAO Zhifeng shared Shantou University’s exploration experience on the construction of high-level talents in recent years. He pointed out that STU adhered to the strategy of strengthening university with talents, is committed to cultivating compound talents with an international vision, industrial cognition, solid foundational and multidisciplinary cross-cutting background. Meanwhile, STU takes the initiative to serve national and regional economic and social development. Based on Shantou’s “Three New, Two Special and One Big” industrial layout, STU actively integrate into the regional development pattern of Guangdong Province, with a view to stimulating the vitality of the growth of scientific and technological talents and promoting regional innovation and development. Finally, he hopes that STU can continue to rely on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance , actively integrate into the Greater Bay Area, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Alliance universities in scientific research, talent education, running universities, etc., jointly accelerate the introduction of talents in short supply, and forge scientific research and innovation platforms and largen projects to a new level. Contribute to accelerating the construction of a strong country in education, a county in science and technology, and a country with talents.
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance was established in 2016 and co-sponsored by Sun Yat-sen University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Macau. The Alliance aims to gather high-quality teaching and research resources of elite universities , deepen educational exchanges and cooperation among the three places, jointly create a "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao One-hour academic circle", and assist the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the national "Belt and Road Initiative".
