Recently, the global information analysis company Elsevier, officially released the "Highly Cited Chinese Researchers" list, 5,216 scholars were selected from 504 universities, scientific research institutions and enterprises across the country. 8 STU teachers entered the list, 2 more than the previous year, namely: Wang Quan (Civil Engineering), Shen Shuilong (Civil Engineering), Lv Yuan (Business Administration), Gu Jiang (Basic Medicine), Peng Jian'e (Foreign Language and Literature), Fang Fan (Foreign Language and Literature), Gu Wei (Biology), Song Zhengguo (Agricultural Resources and Environment).

In recent years, Shantou University constantly focused on the goal of high-level university construction, strengthened scientific research and achievement cultivation, the international influence of discipline construction and academic achievements has been continuously enhanced. The entry of 8 teachers in the list also fully reflects the advantages of our university's multidisciplinary collaborative development as a comprehensive university. For example, the foreign language and literature discipline has outstanding performance. Two teachers of this discipline entered the list this year among the only 26 listed people.
